Yes, the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning system (HVAC system) in your home has to do the most when it comes to indoor comfort for your family. But you can still tweak your HVAC system further to make heating and air conditioning more efficient. It is referred to as “Air Balancing”.
Air balancing is basically making the heating and cooling system more efficient. It ensures the heated and air-conditioned flow in different rooms and zones is well-distributed. One simple yet efficient way is using the register.

6 Steps To Open Or Close The Register For Air Balancing by RifatStep 1 – Set the right temperature in the thermostats
Start with an ideal testing temperature. For most parts, the ideal temperature can be 76 Degrees to 78 Degrees Fahrenheit. Now set the temperature in the thermostat. But you can adjust the testing temperature if you feel the temperature is not ideal for your neighborhood.
Step 2 – Leave it to be
Once you set the ideal testing temperature in the thermostat, it is time to leave the heating and cooling system and let it do its job. Give the HVAC system at least 24 hours to heat or air-condition your rooms or zones.
Step 3 – Adjust the vents
If you have a central air conditioner installed in your home. Make sure the airflow from the central ac unit is adjusted when necessary. If a room in your house (or a zone) is cooler than other rooms or zones, adjust the air vents to allow less airflow from the air conditioning unit.
Step 4 – Adjustment for comfort
You can adjust your HVAC air duct system even further to ensure maximum comfort. Adjust in very small increments until you find the right adjustment.
Step 5 – Recheck the adjustments
Sometimes even when you have adjusted the vents and temperature in thermostat, the comfort may not be achieved. If so, try making further adjustments and recheck after 24 hours.
Step 6 – Continue until you get the perfect temperature
Until you reach the perfect or ideal temperature, you need to repeat these steps over and over. But don’t worry, once you get to the right temperature, it will be worth it.
