1. Set the Right Temperature

You’ll have to remember that the mini-split heat system or any heat pump HVAC system doesn’t work as a fan. No matter which temperature you set in your thermostat, it’ll take time to reach your desired thermostat settings.

Besides, if you set a higher temperature in your mini-split heat pump, it will create a lot of stress and strain on your heat pump. As a result, your mini-split heat pump won’t be able to perform efficiently, and your comfort will be hampered.

Again, when you set a higher temperature in your mini-split heat pump, it’ll start to consume more electricity. As a result, your heating bills will go up.

That’s why it’s recommended that you set 60 degrees Fahrenheit during the day. But during sleep, you can lower your mini-split temperature a bit. In regular operation, the mini-split heat pump's evaporator coil will freeze the moisture in the air. But to do this, a mini-split heat pump will require more energy. As a result, overall efficiency will be reduced.

Besides, during the defrost cycle, this ice can melt and accumulate under your outdoor condenser unit. This can be very dangerous for your mini-split heat pump and can cause damage to your heat pump.

But when you set to mount your outdoor condenser unit higher from the ground, you won’t face these problems. Your mini-split heat system will pull the air at low velocity through the floorboards.

Again, in sunny weather, your floorboards will become warm, and this will increase the efficiency of your heat pump.

3. Use Right Sized Pipes

When you’re planning to get the most out of your mini-split heat system, use right-sized pipes. With right-sized pipes, you can increase efficiency, and you’ll have less noise.

Many homeowners don’t understand the importance of the right sized pipes. As a result, they install small-sized pipes in their heat pump. But when you have a small-sized pipe, it’ll reduce the efficiency of your heat pump. Besides, as I mentioned earlier that your heat pump HVAC system will make more noise.

That’s why it’s recommended that you install at least 15 feet pipe in your mini-split heat pump. This will increase the efficiency of your heat pump.
